Dear Family!

One of the most powerful passages of Pope Francis recent apostolic exhortation on holiness was about this need to ‘remain in Jesus’: “So let me ask you: Are there moments when you place yourself quietly in the Lord’s presence, when you calmly spend time with him, when you bask in his gaze? Do you let his fire inflame your heart? Unless you let him warm you more and more with his love and tenderness, you will not catch fire. How will you then be able to set the hearts of others on fire by your words and witness?” (Gaudete et Exsultate §151)

"Remaining in Jesus" means remaining in the Church, his body. We saw that in the first reading today. It describes a lifestyle of prayer, of "asking in his Name.” It has a sacramental dimension, frequently drinking of the "sap of the Vine" in communion, and frequent confession so that we may commune worthily. It means a life of active obedience, "keeping his commandments and doing what pleases him.” And lastly, it has a charitable dimension, loving in "deed and truth" and not simply in "word or speech,”

Sincere thanks to our Bishop & the Faith Formation Ministry: It was a memorable mass for all of us especially for our children who received their confirmation and their families (Sponsors too). I thank all the Faith Formation Ministry (Mrs. Escarlen Duran and the teachers), clergy, choir, servers, ushers, Knights, decoration ministry and all parishioners who could participate and prayed for our children. The Bishop’s visit to parishes is a very blessed moment for the parish community. It has to be a top priority to greet him and receive his blessings at Mass. The Bishop spent some quality time with our children in our school in the afternoon before visiting the church. I thank our School Community (The Principal and Teachers) for their hospitality. Our special thanks to our Bishop! Please keep our bishop in your daily prayers!

Bible Study on The Acts of the Apostles: All are welcome! As you probably know it takes hours of preparation to put together the Bible Study. I thank all those who have signed up for these studies. Every Thursday at 1:30pm in Mercy Hall we gather to study the scripture. It is never too late to join the study. Every time you participate you will appreciate the rich treasures of the Wisdom of the Word of God.

Eucharistic Renewal: I thank Monsignor John Gordon for the April Seminar on the Eucharist. The March Seminar touched upon important questions people may have and would like to learn Church’s answers to those important questions. People who had attended expressed to me to have more of such sessions. We will have a continuation of this session on Wednesday, May 8th, at 6:30pm. Please join the community!

Our Parish Feast Day and Novena: May 3rd the Universal Church celebrates the Feast of Apostles Philip and James. It is also our Parish Feast Day. We started the Novena to our Saints on 25th of April after all masses. This is a great time to get to know and pray with our Saints and request for their intercession.

Confessions: In addition to our regular confession time (Saturday 10:00am and 3:15pm) I have added weekday confessions during office hours (Monday to Friday) so that people would have more opportunities to avail themselves of this Sacrament. Please call the office for more confession opportunities. Priests are available to journey with you!

Our Prayers for RCIA Candidates: Please remember all the candidates who have received their sacraments at Easter Vigil.

Faith and Service Dinner: It is an important fundraiser for our School. As you have noted earlier, this year’s chosen recipients of Faith & Service awards are Father Pat Boyle and Kevin & Kelly Perna. My sincere thanks to Bill Casey and the whole team in organizing the dinner. As we thank Fr. Pat and Kevin & Kelly, we continue to pray for Catholic Education.

Ordinary Maintenance Projects: Our chapel renovation will be starting soon as we are working to get schedule ready to relocate adoration opportunities for parishioners. I thank all the volunteers who continue to care for our facilities. Skilled people such as painters, electricians, plumbers and carpenters are all welcomed to volunteer in these projects.

¡Querida familia!

Uno de los versículos más poderosos de la reciente exhortación apostólica sobre la santidad del Papa Francisco fue sobre esta necesidad de 'permanecer en Jesús': “Entonces déjame preguntarte: ¿Hay momentos en los que te colocas tranquilamente en la presencia del Señor, en los que tranquilamente pasas tiempo con él, cuando disfrutas de su mirada? ¿Dejas que su fuego encienda en tu corazón? A menos que dejes que te caliente cada vez más con su amor y ternura, no te incendiarás. ¿Cómo podrás entonces encender el corazón de los demás con tus palabras y tu testimonio? (Gaudete et Exsultate §151)

"Permanecer en Jesús" significa permanecer en la Iglesia, su cuerpo. Lo vimos en la primera lectura de hoy. Describe un estilo de vida de oración, de "pedir en su Nombre". Tiene una dimensión sacramental, beber frecuentemente de la "savia de la Vid" en la comunión y confesarse frecuentemente para comulgar dignamente. Significa una vida de obediencia activa, "guardando sus mandamientos y haciendo lo que le agrada". Y, por último, tiene una dimensión caritativa, amando en "obra y verdad" y no simplemente en "palabra o palabra".

Un sincero agradecimiento a nuestro Obispo y al Ministerio de Formación de Fe: Fue una misa memorable para todos nosotros, especialmente para nuestros niños que recibieron su confirmación y sus familias (padrinos también). Agradezco a todo el Ministerio de Formación de Fe (Sra. Escarlen Durán y los maestros), clero, coro, servidores, ujieres, caballeros de colon, ministerio de condecoración y a todos los feligreses que pudieron participar y orar por nuestros niños. La visita del Obispo a las parroquias es un momento de gran bendición para la comunidad parroquial. Tiene que ser una prioridad máxima saludarlo y recibir sus bendiciones en la Misa. El Obispo pasó un tiempo agradable con nuestros niños en nuestra escuela por la tarde antes de visitar la iglesia. Agradezco a nuestra Comunidad Escolar (La Directora y Maestros) por su hospitalidad. ¡Nuestro agradecimiento especial a nuestro Obispo! ¡Por favor mantenga a nuestro obispo en sus oraciones diarias!

Estudio Bíblico sobre Los Hechos de los Apóstoles: ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Como probablemente saben, que son horas de preparación para preparar el estudio bíblico. Agradezco a todos aquellos que se han apuntado a estos estudios. Todos los jueves a la 1:30 pm en Mercy Hall nos reunimos para estudiar las Escrituras. Nunca es demasiado tarde para unirse al estudio. Cada vez que participes apreciarás los ricos tesoros de la Sabiduría de la Palabra de Dios.

Avivamiento Eucarístico: Agradezco a Monseñor John Gordon por el Seminario sobre la Eucaristía de abril. La charla de marzo abordó preguntas importantes que las personas pueden tener y les gustaría conocer las respuestas de la Iglesia a esas preguntas importantes. Algunas personas que habían asistido me expresaron que tendrían más sesiones de este tipo. Tendremos una continuación de esta sesión el miércoles 8 de mayo a las 6:30 pm. ¡Únase a la comunidad!

Nuestra Fiesta Parroquial y Novena: El 3 de mayo la Iglesia Universal celebra la Fiesta de los Apóstoles Felipe y Santiago. También es nuestra fiesta parroquial. Iniciamos la Novena de nuestros Santos el 25 de abril después de todas las misas. Este es un buen momento para conocer y orar con nuestros santos y pedir su intercesión.

Confesiones: Además de nuestro horario habitual de confesión (sábado a las 10 am y 3:15 pm.), he agregado confesiones entre semana durante el horario de oficina (de lunes a viernes) para que las personas tengan más oportunidades de aprovechar este Sacramento. Llame a la oficina para obtener más oportunidades de confesión. ¡Los sacerdotes están disponibles para viajar con usted!

Cena de Fe y Servicio: Es una importante recaudación de fondos para nuestra escuela. Los ganadores elegidos de este año para los premios Fe y Servicio son el Padre Pat Boyle y pareja Kevin y Kelly Perna. Mi más sincero agradecimiento a Bill Casey y a todo el equipo por organizar la cena. Mientras agradecemos al P. Pat y Kevin & Kelly, seguimos orando por la educación católica.

Proyectos de Mantenimiento: La renovación de nuestra capilla comenzará tan pronto estemos trabajando para preparar el cronograma para reubicar las oportunidades de adoración para los feligreses. Agradezco a todos los voluntarios que siguen cuidando nuestras instalaciones. Personas cualificadas como pintores, electricistas, fontaneros y carpinteros son bienvenidas como voluntarias en estos proyectos.
