Sailing the Waters of Hope

Year 5 - Western Europe

Throughout the school year, our students have experienced the wonders of Western Europe! We've been from Portugal to Germany and from Ireland to Greece, backpacking over the rivers and through the mountains. We've seen cathedrals and castles and statues and even windmills spinning with the breeze. We went with the Luck o' the Irish riding in the gondolas, skiing in the Alps, and listening for Big Ben to mark the hour. We enjoyed Swiss chocolates and cheeses and took a chance in Monaco. We even watched the 2006 Winter Olympics and went to Jolly Old England for a May Day Celebration. We waited anxiously for the white smoke to pour forth in the Vatican City and cheered jouyously after three days when it finally came with the news that Pope Benedict XVI had been elected. Adventerous and fun, we had a great time this year, backpacking, riding, sailing, and flying through Western Europe!

What a wonderful story! Kudos to all who prepared and participated in our culmination activities. Our invited guests were most impressed with the displays of all we accomplished and learned during our voyage to Western Europe.
