Dear Family!

We began our Faith Formation classes last Tuesday! With God’s guidance and the wisdom of our Catechists, we can share our Christ-Experience with our children and form them in faith. We have some large classes of children, especially our 8th grade both in School and in Faith Formation. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Faith Formation Team for all their dedication and service to our parish community.

It is never too late to enroll your children into Faith Formation - please call the office and make an appointment to see Mrs. Escarlen Duran.

The readings talk about Service and Suffering as they are two sides of the same coin of the Christian experience. Though the Church is the sinless Bride of Christ, the Church is made up of sinners who are in need of repentance and salvation. Church can be a loving family but at the same time, it is subject to all human failings. At times we experience opposition from outside of our church, but we feel betrayed when that happens from within. Jesus experienced suffering and betrayal from many of His brethren, including his own Apostle, Judas Iscariot.

In the gospel, Jesus gave his disciples the second prophecy of his Passion as He warned them of His coming betrayal. He taught them about humility and service. He puts the child in the midst of the church today as our model for discipleship. ‘Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me” - Mary is a model and mother who received the Child and along with Joseph named the Child Jesus. It is so fitting to see the Mother encouraging us to be childlike in accepting and living the Life-giving Word.

Faith Formation: I express my heartfelt gratitude towards our Catechists and their service. We have 144 children in our Faith Formation this year, thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Duran and all the Catechists. It makes me happy to see the number increase and we need to do more for our children. They need constant spiritual care like our SSPJ School children who are fortunate to have religious education, monthly mass and confessions, and other pious activities.

We need to make sure all our children are attended to irrespective of where they go to school. I request you to join our parish community in praying for our efforts to make Faith Formation a great priority for all parents.

National March for Life in New Jersey & other important events: For the first time the National March for Life organization is working with Pro-Life groups across New Jersey which will be hosting the New Jersey State March for Life on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 11:00am. Please call the office for more information.

The National Eucharistic Revival moves into missionary phase with the Walk With One campaign. This website www.eucharisticrevival.org/year-of-mission explains this phase and provides the Playbook which is available online in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Pastor’s Appeal: I am forever grateful to all of you for your generosity. We continue to receive help from families. As you have heard me say more than a few times now that this year our parish’s focus will be our children and investing in our children. The demands of the church is such that we put in extra care in this venture to making our church a vibrant community. I ask you to prayerfully consider helping us with the Pastor’s Appeal this year so that our planned ideas could be implemented in time for our children and for our parish.

Special Healing Mass on September 27th, 7:00pm: Ministering to the sick and the elderly is an integral part of Jesus’ mission. This is also the Church’s mission. We continue to visit hospitals and nursing homes to cater to the needs of the sick. We also visit all the homebound in our parish. We will have a special healing mass on September 27th at 7:00pm with special Anointing of the Sick towards the end of the Mass. I request you to spread the word around. If you know people who are in need of Anointing and prayers for healing, please bring them in for this special Mass

¡Querida familia!

¡Comenzamos nuestras clases de Formación de la Fe el martes pasado! Con la guía de Dios y la sabiduría de nuestros catequistas, podemos compartir nuestra experiencia de Cristo con nuestros niños y formarlos en la fe. Tenemos algunas clases grandes de niños, especialmente nuestros de octavo grado, tanto en la escuela como en Formación de la Fe. Extiendo mi más sincero agradecimiento al Equipo de Formación de la Fe por toda su dedicación y servicio a nuestra comunidad parroquial. Nunca es demasiado tarde para inscribir a sus hijos en la Formación de la Fe; llame a la oficina y haga una cita para ver a la Sra. Escarlen Duran.

Las lecturas hablan del servicio y del sufrimiento, ya que son dos caras de la misma moneda de la experiencia cristiana. Aunque la Iglesia es la Esposa de Cristo sin pecado, está formada por pecadores que necesitan arrepentimiento y salvación. La Iglesia puede ser una familia amorosa, pero al mismo tiempo está sujeta a todas las fallas humanas. A veces experimentamos oposición desde fuera de nuestra iglesia, pero nos sentimos traicionados cuando eso sucede desde dentro. Jesús experimentó el sufrimiento y la traición de muchos de sus hermanos, incluido su propio apóstol, Judas Iscariote.

En el Evangelio, Jesús dio a sus discípulos la segunda profecía de su Pasión, al advertirles de su traición inminente. Les enseñó acerca de la humildad y el servicio. Pone al niño en medio de la iglesia actual como nuestro modelo de discipulado. “El que reciba a un niño como éste en mi nombre, a mí me recibe”. María es un modelo y madre que recibió al Niño y junto con José lo bautizó como Jesús. Es muy apropiado ver a la madre animándonos a ser como niños al aceptar y vivir la Palabra que da vida.

Formación en la fe: Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a nuestros catequistas y a su servicio. Este año contamos con 144 niños en nuestro programa de Formación en la fe, gracias a los esfuerzos de la Sra. Duran y de todos los catequistas. Me alegra ver que el número aumenta y debemos hacer más por nuestros niños. Ellos necesitan un cuidado espiritual constante, como los niños de la escuela SSPJ, que tienen la suerte de tener educación religiosa, misa mensual y confesiones y otras actividades piadosas. Debemos asegurarnos de que todos nuestros niños reciban atención independientemente de la escuela a la que asistan. Les pido que se unan a nuestra comunidad parroquial para orar por nuestros esfuerzos para hacer de la Formación en la fe una gran prioridad para todos los padres.

Marcha Nacional por la Vida en Nueva Jersey y otros eventos importantes: Por primera vez, la organización Marcha Nacional por la Vida está trabajando con grupos Pro-Vida en toda Nueva Jersey, juntos organizarán la Marcha Estatal por la Vida de Nueva Jersey el jueves 26 de septiembre de 2024 a las 11:00am. Llame a la oficina para obtener más información. El Avivamiento Eucarístico Nacional pasa a la etapa misionera con la campaña Camina Con Alguien. Apelación del Párroco: Estoy eternamente agradecido a todos ustedes por su generosidad. Seguimos recibiendo ayuda de las familias. Como me han escuchado decir más de una vez, este año el enfoque de nuestra parroquia serán nuestros niños y la inversión en ellos. Las demandas de la iglesia son tales que ponemos especial cuidado en esta iniciativa para hacer de nuestra iglesia una comunidad vibrante. Les pido que consideren en oración ayudarnos con el Llamado del Pastor este año para que las ideas que hemos planeado se puedan implementar a tiempo para nuestros niños y para nuestra parroquia.

Misa de sanación el 27 de septiembre a las 7:00pm: Atender a los enfermos y ancianos es parte integral de la misión de Jesús. Esta es también la misión de la Iglesia. Seguimos visitando hospitales y residencias de ancianos para atender las necesidades de los enfermos. También visitamos a todos los confinados en sus hogares en nuestra parroquia. Tendremos una misa especial de sanación el 27 de septiembre a las 7:00pm con una Unción especial de los enfermos hacia el final de la misa. Les pido que difundan la información. Si conocen a personas que necesiten la Unción y oraciones por la sanación, por favor tráiganlas a esta misa especial.
