Dear Family!

January 18th-25th every year is devoted to praying for Christian Unity. More on this topic in the Memorials & Feast section of the Bulletin. As we step into Ordinary Time, we are still getting to know the personality of Jesus. Jesus begins his public ministry with his mission statement ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…to bring good news to the poor’.

At the beginning of his public ministry, Mary plays an important role in revealing the Heart of Jesus - Mary, the mother of Jesus’ love and compassion reaching out to the poor and needy as proclaimed in the Gospel today.

Mary will also be present at the end of Jesus’ public ministry once again to reveal the Heart of Jesus - Jesus thus makes Mary the priority for all his beloved disciples. Those who look up to the Cross of Jesus, are made to look at Mary as their Mother for comfort and strength. The Disciple accepts Mary and takes her home, thus the salvation that Jesus offers to the church is symbolized in and through Mary. Mary would continue to intercede on our behalf because she lives with us, and she is one of us.

As Mary enriches the Church through her holiness and humble submission for the Glory of God and love for her children, we too can enrich the church through our own participation in making God known and loved. The Second Reading gives us the list of the many gifts that we enjoy from God. They could be grown and harvested for the glory of God so that we can feed the poor and needy of our society. Mary spoke to the servers - she speaks to all of us. Her message is one of service!

On the 22nd of January, the Church remembers the Unborn. Please remember the needs of young mothers and the well-being of pregnant women in our community.

Parish Survey: My sincere thanks to our Parish Pastoral Council in putting together the survey for the parish with regard to mass scheduling. As we observed during Christmas an increased participation of parishioners and thanks to all of you for an increasing offertory during Christmas, I continue to encourage you and stress the importance of Sunday Worship as it is the source and summit of our Christian living.

There were times we had about 5 or 6 priests in the rectory ministering to various needs of the parish. So far, thanks to the extraordinary ministries of Monsignor Corona and Father Barbella we could continue to offer six masses during the weekend. Discussions with our Bishop, councils, and other individuals, we understand the wisdom in reducing just one mass as we did for the weekdays. I thank you for your inputs and time invested in completing the survey and all your prayers. Please continue to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in leading our parish community.

Jubilee Year 2025: (Jubilee of World Communications - Jan 24-26)
Pope Francis has announced that the Church will celebrate a Jubilee Year in 2025, with the theme of ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. Bishop Checchio opened the 2025 Jubilee Year in the Diocese of Metuchen on Saturday, December 28, 2024, the Feast of The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. In the Jubilee Year, various jubilees are planned and scheduled to be celebrated. In the month of January, we just have one jubilee. From the 24th-26th of January, the Church celebrates the Jubilee of World Communications. The Church remembers and prays for all involved in the work of communications and media: All those who profess Jesus and His Gospel, professionals or students pursuing a career in communication. This includes diocesan and secular media, videographers, graphic designers, writers, publishers, and people who work in public relations, marketing, public information, and digital and social media.

Pastor’s Appeal: I am forever grateful to all of you for your generosity. The roof repair has begun in the Mercy Hall Building. As promised we have completed initial repairs to the roof. We will restart the permanent renovation in the spring. In the meantime, we will be acquiring all the restroom and flooring materials for the 3rd floor. I ask you to prayerfully consider helping us with the Pastor’s Appeal this year so that our planned ideas could be implemented in time for our children and for our parish.

2º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

¡Querida familia!

Del 18 al 25 de enero de cada año se dedica a rezar por la unidad de los cristianos. Más sobre este tema en la sección conmemoraciones y fiestas del Boletín. A medida que entramos en el Tiempo Ordinario, todavía estamos conociendo la personalidad de Jesús. Jesús comienza su ministerio público con su declaración de misión: "El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí...para llevar la buena nueva a los pobres". Al comienzo de su ministerio público, María desempeña un papel importante en la revelación del Corazón de Jesús: María, la madre del amor y la compasión de Jesús, que se extiende a los pobres y necesitados, como se proclama en el Evangelio de hoy.

María también estará presente al final del ministerio público de Jesús una vez más para revelar el Corazón de Jesús, por lo que Jesús hace de María la prioridad para todos sus amados discípulos. Aquellos que miran hacia la Cruz de Jesús, están hechos para mirar a María como su Madre en busca de consuelo y fuerza. El discípulo acepta a María y la lleva a su casa, por lo que la salvación que Jesús ofrece a la iglesia está simbolizada en y a través de María. María seguirá intercediendo por nosotros porque vive con nosotros y es una de nosotros.

Así como María enriquece a la Iglesia a través de su santidad y humilde sumisión para la gloria de Dios y el amor por sus hijos, nosotros también podemos enriquecer a la Iglesia a través de nuestra propia participación en dar a conocer y amar a Dios. La segunda lectura nos da la lista de los muchos dones que disfrutamos de Dios. Podrían cultivarse y cosecharse para la gloria de Dios para que podamos alimentar a los pobres y necesitados de nuestra sociedad. María habló a los servidores, nos habla a todos nosotros. ¡Su mensaje es de servicio!

El 22 de enero, la Iglesia recuerda a los no nacidos. Por favor, recuerde las necesidades de las madres jóvenes y el bienestar de las mujeres embarazadas en nuestra comunidad.

Encuesta Parroquial: Mi más sincero agradecimiento a nuestro Consejo Pastoral Parroquial por elaborar la encuesta para la parroquia con respecto a la programación de misas. Como observamos durante la Navidad una mayor participación de los feligreses y gracias a todos ustedes por un ofertorio cada vez mayor durante la Navidad, continúo animándolos y enfatizando la importancia del culto dominical, ya que es la fuente y la cumbre de nuestra vida cristiana.

Hubo momentos en que teníamos unos 5 o 6 sacerdotes en la rectoría ministrando a diversas necesidades de la parroquia. Hasta ahora, gracias a los ministerios extraordinarios de Monseñor Corona y del Padre Barbella, hemos podido seguir ofreciendo seis misas durante el fin de semana. De las discusiones con nuestro Obispo, los consejos y otras personas, comprendemos la sabiduría de reducir una sola misa como lo hacíamos para los días de semana. Les agradezco sus aportes y el tiempo invertido en completar la encuesta y todas sus oraciones. Por favor, continúen orando por la guía del Espíritu Santo para guiar a nuestra comunidad parroquial.

Año Jubilar 2025: (Jubileo de las Comunicaciones Mundiales - 24 al 26 de enero)
El Papa Francisco ha anunciado que la Iglesia celebrará un Año Jubilar en 2025, con el tema "Peregrinos de la Esperanza". El Obispo Checchio inauguró el Año Jubilar 2025 en la Diócesis de Metuchen el sábado 28 de diciembre de 2024, Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, María y José. En el Año Jubilar, se planean y programan varios jubileos. En el mes de enero, solo tenemos un jubileo. Del 24 al 26 de enero, la Iglesia celebra el Jubileo de las Comunicaciones Mundiales. La Iglesia recuerda y reza por todos los que se dedican al trabajo de la comunicación y de los medios de comunicación: a todos los que profesan a Jesús y su Evangelio, a los profesionales o a los estudiantes que siguen una carrera en la comunicación. Esto incluye medios de comunicación diocesanos y seculares, videógrafos, diseñadores gráficos, escritores, editores y personas que trabajan en relaciones públicas, marketing, información pública y medios digitales y sociales.

Apelación del Pastor: Estoy eternamente agradecido a todos ustedes por su generosidad. La reparación del techo ha comenzado en el edificio del Salón de la Misericordia. Como prometimos, hemos completado las reparaciones iniciales del techo. Reiniciaremos la renovación permanente en la primavera. Mientras tanto, estaremos adquiriendo todos los materiales de baños y pisos para el 3er piso. Les pido que consideren en oración ayudarnos con la Campaña del Pastor este año para que nuestras ideas planificadas puedan implementarse a tiempo para nuestros hijos y para nuestra parroquia.
