Gen 2:7); our very bodies are made up of her elements, we breathe her air, and we receive life and refreshment from her waters." --Pope Francis

Pope Frances also states, "We need to participate for the common good. Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics. This is not true: good Catholics immerse themselves in politics by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern." (9/16/13)

The readings remind us of the importance of being sensitive to the poor and the needy in the society. Being sensitive to the needs of others is a mark of being a Christian. The rich man in the gospel was condemned for not treating Lazarus as his brother. The bible is filled with instances that prove one point - God takes the side of the poor and needy. In order that God be on our side, every rich person must side with the poor and needy.

The Church has a preferential love for the poor because the Church imitates her founder’s compassion toward the poor by working “for their relief, defense, and liberation through numerous works of charity” (CCC 2448). God’s justice to the poor is mediated in the most complete, filling and generous way by our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord taught his followers to do the same.

Traveling Eucharistic Rosary Congress (October 4-10): Eight different parishes will be offering 24hour Eucharistic Adoration across these seven days in response to Our Lady of Fatima’s call to conversion, consecration and prayer. Pope Leo recently imparted his Apostolic Blessing to the Eucharistic Rosary Congress.

Healing Mass at our Parish: I thank Fr. Alex, our parochial vicar in celebrating the Healing Mass on September 23rd in our church at 7pm in my absence and also anointing all those who participated in the mass. We will plan one more Healing Mass in the near future.

150th Anniversary of Catholic Education in Phillipsburg (Sun, Dec 7th at 11am)
As the anniversary approaches near, there are preliminary preparations that need to happen. Please save the date: Sunday, December 7th, Bishop Checchio will celebrate a special mass at 11am to mark the event. All are welcome!

Mercy Hall Building Updates: After the roof work and installation of 29 energy efficient windows at the top floor we are continuing the repair of all the classrooms. Please pray for the boiler situation in Mercy Hall. We hope to have a solution before winter starts.

¡Querida familia!

El Evangelio se proclama mejor cuando se ama a Dios y al prójimo conjuntamente. «La tierra misma, agobiada y devastada, se encuentra entre los más abandonados y maltratados de nuestros pobres; gime con dolores de parto (Rm 8,22). Hemos olvidado que nosotros mismos somos polvo de la tierra (cf. Gn 2,7); nuestros cuerpos están hechos de sus elementos, respiramos su aire y recibimos vida y refrigerio de sus aguas». --Papa Francisco

¿Estás estresado? ¿Estás obsesionado con algo? ¿Le El Papa Francisco también afirma: «Necesitamos participar por el bien común. A veces oímos: a un buen católico no le interesa la política. Esto no es cierto: los buenos católicos se sumergen en la política ofreciendo lo mejor de sí mismos para que el líder pueda gobernar». (16/09/13)

Las lecturas nos recuerdan la importancia de ser sensibles a los pobres y necesitados de la sociedad. Ser sensibles a las necesidades de los demás es una señal de ser cristiano. El hombre rico del Evangelio fue condenado por no tratar a Lázaro como a su hermano. La Biblia está llena de ejemplos que demuestran un punto: Dios se pone del lado de los pobres y necesitados. Para que Dios esté de nuestro lado, todo rico debe ponerse del lado de los pobres y necesitados.

La Iglesia tiene un amor preferencial por los pobres porque imita la compasión de su fundador hacia ellos, trabajando «por su socorro, defensa y liberación mediante numerosas obras de caridad» (CIC 2448).

La justicia de Dios hacia los pobres es mediada de la manera más completa, plena y generosa por nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Nuestro Señor enseñó a sus seguidores a hacer lo mismo.

Congreso Eucarístico Itinerante del Rosario (4-10 de octubre): Ocho parroquias ofrecerán Adoración Eucarística las 24 horas del día durante siete días, en respuesta al llamado de Nuestra Señora de Fátima a la conversión, la consagración y la oración. El Papa León impartió recientemente su Bendición Apostólica al Congreso Eucarístico del Rosario.

Misa de Sanación en nuestra parroquia: Agradezco al Padre Alex, nuestro vicario parroquial, por celebrar la Misa de Sanación el 23 de septiembre en nuestra iglesia a las 7 pm durante mi ausencia, y por ungir a todos los que participaron. Próximamente tendremos otra Misa de Sanación.

150º Aniversario de la Educación Católica en Phillipsburg (Domingo 7 de diciembre, 11am)
A medida que se acerca el aniversario, es necesario realizar preparativos preliminares. Por favor, reserven la fecha: el domingo 7 de diciembre, el Obispo celebrará una misa especial a las 11:00 am para conmemorar el evento. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!

Actualizaciones del edificio Mercy Hall: Tras las obras del techo y la instalación de 29 ventanas de bajo consumo en la planta superior, continuamos con la reparación de todas las aulas. Por favor, oren por el problema de la caldera en Mercy Hall. Esperamos tener una solución antes del inicio del invierno.
