Dear Family!

Happy Trinity Sunday to all of you! The Doctrine of Trinity is called a ‘mystery’ because this truth can never been known by reason alone. Only God can reveal the truth to us (CCC 261). The Doctrine of Trinity is not unique to Christianity: it transcends all religion and is a key ingredient of universal life and culture (Diarmuid Murchu).

The Trimoorthy of Hinduism, the Buddhist doctrine of the three bodies, the Zoroastrian triplicate of Zurvan, the Egyptian cult of Isis, Seraphis and the divine child Horus and some thirty thousand years of traditional Trinitarian worship in the prehistoric times all point to the same One God seen in three persons.

We all possess a certain ‘nature’ when we say, ‘it’s my nature’. A person can possess a nature and not the other way around. ‘Person’ and ‘nature’ answer two different questions. ‘What is it?’ – NATURE. ‘Who is it?’ – PERSON. Further, we all can understand that our nature decides what is possible for us persons. I the person; nature is the source of our operations (F J Sheed). The same is applied to the Trinity. What we should be careful here is that 1. These three persons don’t share the divine nature 33.333, 2. They are distinct but not separate.

The doctrine can only make sense if it is understood in terms of Love and not in terms of administration. It is not about fixing, rather loving. “The ancient wisdom that we share is: everything is created out of relatedness, sustained through relationships and thrives on interdependence”. If God is love, God teaches us what love is all about; what relationships are all about and what inter-dependence is all about! Thus, we turn to Trinity for all those answers. Trinity is all about love and unity in fullness.

Saint John Paul II taught us, “A great mystery, a mystery of love, an ineffable mystery, before which words must give way to the silence of wonder and worship. A divine mystery that challenges and involves us, because a share in the Trinitarian life was given to us through grace, through the redemptive Incarnation of the Word and the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (March 17, 1999)

Ordinations for the Diocese of Metuchen 2026: The diocese has announced that Rev. Mr. James F Prumos will be ordained to the Order of Priests and Mr. Patrick J Rasimowicz will be ordained to the order of Deacon. Ordination to Priesthood and Diaconate will be at the Cathedral on June 20th, 10am. Please pray for these young men who said ‘Yes’ to the Service of God and Church.

Sacred Heart Novena (June 3-11): On June 3rd, our parish begins the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus reflection on the following. Day 1. Heart of Jesus, aflame with love for us; 2. Heart of Jesus, source of justice and love; 3. Heart of Jesus, worthy of all praise; 4. Heart of Jesus, patient and full of mercy; 5. Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness, 6. Heart of Jesus, atonement for our sins; 7. Heart of Jesus, source of all consolation; 8. Jesus, gentle and humble of heart; and 9. Consecration.

Special Franciscan Jubilee Year (January 10, 2026 - January 10, 2027)
Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed this year a Special Jubilee to mark the 800th Anniversary of St. Francis’ death in 1226. To commemorate the spirituality of St. Francis, we will have a weekly quote from St. Francis in our Bulletin.

Graduation 2026 in SPSJ
On June 1st we will have a special Graduation Mass followed by Graduation Ceremony for our 8th Graders. Then on June 2nd we will have the Graduation Ceremony for our Pre-K and Kindergarten children at our school. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers!

Law Enforcement Recollection Day: We wish and pray for all Law-Enforcement officers for their service to our community especially the Police Departments that are around our Parish Community, such as Phillipsburg Police Department. A special Day of Recollection is organized for them by our Diocese on June 13th. Many law enforcement agencies actually allow their officers to apply to be paid to attend. Please keep them in your prayers.

Diocesan Programs in the near future: Save the Date heads up that this year is the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Santísima Trinidad

¡Querida familia!

¡Feliz Domingo de la Santísima Trinidad a todos ustedes! La doctrina de la Trinidad recibe el nombre de «misterio» porque esta verdad nunca podrá ser conocida únicamente mediante la razón. Solo Dios puede revelarnos la verdad (CCC 261). La doctrina de la Trinidad no es exclusiva del cristianismo: trasciende toda religión y constituye un ingrediente clave de la vida y la cultura universales (Diarmuid Murchu). El Trimurti del hinduismo, la doctrina budista de los tres cuerpos, la tríada zoroástrica de Zurvan, el culto egipcio a Isis, Serapis y el niño divino Horus, así como unos treinta mil años de adoración trinitaria tradicional en tiempos prehistóricos, apuntan todos hacia el mismo Dios Único, contemplado en tres personas.

Todos poseemos una cierta «naturaleza» cuando decimos: «es mi naturaleza». Una persona puede poseer una naturaleza, pero no a la inversa. «Persona» y «naturaleza» responden a dos preguntas diferentes. «¿Qué es?» — NATURALEZA. «¿Quién es?» — PERSONA. Además, todos podemos comprender que nuestra naturaleza determina lo que es posible para nosotros, las personas. Yo soy la persona; la naturaleza es la fuente de nuestras operaciones (F. J. Sheed). Lo mismo se aplica a la Trinidad. En este punto, debemos tener cuidado con lo siguiente: 1. Estas tres personas no comparten la naturaleza divina en una proporción del 33,333 %; 2. Son distintas, pero no están separadas.

La doctrina solo tiene sentido si se comprende en términos de Amor, y no en términos de administración. No se trata de arreglar, sino de amar. «La sabiduría ancestral que compartimos es: todo es creado a partir de la vinculación, sostenido a través de las relaciones y prospera gracias a la interdependencia». Si Dios es amor, ¡Dios nos enseña en qué consiste el amor, en qué consisten las relaciones y en qué consiste la interdependencia! Por ello, recurrimos a la Trinidad en busca de todas esas respuestas. La Trinidad es, ante todo, amor y unidad en plenitud.

San Juan Pablo II nos enseñó: «Un gran misterio, un misterio de amor, un misterio inefable, ante el cual las palabras deben ceder el paso al silencio de la admiración y de la adoración. Un misterio divino que nos interpela y nos involucra, pues se nos ha concedido participar de la vida trinitaria por la gracia, mediante la Encarnación redentora del Verbo y el don del Espíritu Santo». Ordenaciones para la Diócesis de Metuchen 2026: La diócesis ha anunciado que el Rev. Sr. James F. Prumos será ordenado al Orden de los Presbíteros, y el Sr. Patrick J. Rasimowicz será ordenado al Orden del Diaconado. La ordenación al sacerdocio y al diaconado tendrá lugar en la Catedral el 20 de junio, a las 10:00 am. Por favor, oren por estos jóvenes que han dicho «Sí» al servicio de Dios y de la Iglesia.

Novena al Sagrado Corazón (del 3 al 11 de junio): El 3 de junio, nuestra parroquia inicia la Novena al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, reflexionando sobre los siguientes temas: Día 1. Corazón de Jesús, ardiente de amor por nosotros; 2. Corazón de Jesús, fuente de justicia y amor; 3. Corazón de Jesús, digno de toda alabanza; 4. Corazón de Jesús, paciente y lleno de misericordia; 5. Corazón de Jesús, fuente de vida y santidad; 6. Corazón de Jesús, expiación por nuestros pecados; 7. Corazón de Jesús, fuente de todo consuelo; 8. Jesús, manso y humilde de corazón; y 9. Consagración.

Año Jubilar Franciscano Especial (10 de enero de 2026 – 10 de enero de 2027)
El Papa León XIV ha proclamado este año como un Jubileo Especial para conmemorar el 800.º aniversario de la muerte de San Francisco, acaecida en 1226. Para celebrar la espiritualidad de San Francisco, incluiremos una cita semanal suya en nuestro boletín.

Graduación 2026 en SPSJ
El 1.º de junio celebraremos una Misa de Graduación especial, seguida de la Ceremonia de Graduación para nuestros alumnos de 8.º grado. Y, el 2 de junio, tendremos la Ceremonia de Graduación para nuestros niños de Preescolar y Jardín de Infantes en nuestra escuela. ¡Por favor, tengan presentes en sus oraciones a estos niños y a sus familias!

Día de Retiro para las Fuerzas del Orden: Elevamos nuestros deseos y oraciones por todos los agentes de las fuerzas del orden por su servicio a nuestra comunidad, especialmente por los departamentos de policía que se encuentran en el entorno de nuestra comunidad parroquial, tales como el Departamento de Policía de Phillipsburg. Nuestra Diócesis ha organizado para ellos un Día de Retiro especial el 13 de junio. De hecho, muchas agencias del orden público permiten a sus agentes solicitar asistir a este evento con goce de sueldo. Por favor, ténganlos presentes en sus oraciones.
