Dear Family!

Reflection:Speaking of Life and the fullness of life, it is the mind of the Church and expressed in all the documents that teach about the Word of God that the Church is nourished by the Word of God. Pope Benedict in Verbum Domini taught us that the Church is built upon the word of God; she is born from and lives by that word. This word that goes forth from God’s mouth is presented in our first reading as the rain and snow to water to the earth for life and growth.

This image of life and growth is expressed so beautifully by Saint Paul in the second reading in the image of the birth pangs of a woman in labor. As Scott Hahn writes, “Creation has been laboring until now, but when the time for giving birth comes, it will finally know the freedom that comes with new life.” That new life and new growth takes place when we process from the Altar as messengers of the Word.

The Gospel is a great reminder that the reception of the Word of God requires readiness and proper preparation. The soil that is ready and properly prepared for the seeds yield plentiful harvest. As Christians our hearts must be ready in welcoming the word with eager longing and utmost devotion that compels us to touch lives. The world looks to you for inspiration, motivation, direction and encouragement. You can boldly say, ‘All I have is Jesus and I am ready and willing to share Jesus with you!’

New Principal Welcoming: We are blessed to have Mrs. Patricia Bell as our new principal. I take this opportunity to thank our Search Committee once more in helping the parish to identity her. We welcome Patricia with great joy, and we wish her well in her vocation as a leader of the School community and we pray for her as it is a very demanding vocation.

We are also grateful for all the years of service and commitment that Mrs. Kucinski leaves behind. We wish her well and thank her for her service to the school community all these 30+ years.

My heartfelt thanks to our Welcoming Committee in organizing this gathering for us at Mercy Hall and thank all the volunteers for their donations and service.

Msgr. Brennan & Eucharistic Revival: The third Eucharistic Seminar in our parish went well. I thank Msgr. Brennan for being here and encouraging us to grow in holiness towards our Eucharistic Lord. As I mentioned before in my previous bulletin articles that Msgr. Brennan was assigned in our parish before and now celebrates 50 years of priesthood.

Soccer Playoff and Tournament: Our Hispanic Community will be involved in planning and forming a new Soccer ‘Tournament.’ The aim and objective of this venture is first and foremost to create a sense of community among our Hispanics throughout the diocese and second is to promote Catholic Education among Hispanic parents. This is the first time in our diocese that such an event is being promoted to unify all Hispanics. We are forming Soccer Teams in Washington, Flemington and Hackettstown for a start. Eventually we will be expanding to North Plainfield and Perth Amboy parishes also. There is a lot of planning needed for this venture. I ask your prayers and support for this Tournament. You are all invited to all our games that are planned in our school grounds to come support our team.

Bishop’s Annual Appeal: I thank all 260+ families who have supported this year’s Bishop’s Appeal. We have reached 85% of our goal. It is the first year for me to promote this Appeal. And this is the last call of my request to you, if you have not contributed to this Appeal, I request you to consider it; every small donation make a great impact! Thank you again!

¡Querida Familia!

Reflexión: Hablando de Vida y de la plenitud de vida, es la mente de la Iglesia y expresada en todos los documentos que enseñan sobre la Palabra de Dios que la Iglesia se nutre de la Palabra de Dios. El Papa Benedicto en Verbum Domini nos enseñó que la Iglesia está edificada sobre la palabra de Dios; ella nace y vive de esa palabra. Esta palabra que sale de la boca de Dios se presenta en nuestra primera lectura como la lluvia y la nieve para regar la tierra para la vida y el crecimiento.

Esta imagen de vida y crecimiento la expresa tan bellamente san Pablo en la segunda lectura en la imagen de los dolores de parto de una mujer de parto. Como escribe Scott Hahn: “La creación ha estado trabajando hasta ahora, pero cuando llegue el momento de dar a luz, finalmente conocerá la libertad que viene con la nueva vida”. Esa nueva vida y nuevo crecimiento tiene lugar cuando procesionamos desde el Altar como mensajeros de la Palabra.

El Evangelio es un gran recordatorio de que la recepción de la Palabra de Dios requiere disponibilidad y preparación adecuada. El suelo que está listo y debidamente preparado para las semillas produce abundante cosecha. Como cristianos nuestro corazón debe estar dispuesto a acoger la palabra con anhelo anhelante y suma devoción que nos impulsa a tocar vidas. El mundo busca en ti inspiración, motivación, dirección y aliento. Puedes decir con valentía: '¡Todo lo que tengo es a Jesús y estoy listo y dispuesto a compartir a Jesús contigo!'

Bienvenida a la nueva directora: Tenemos la suerte de tener a la Sra. Patricia Bell como nuestra nueva directora. Aprovecho esta oportunidad para agradecer a nuestro Comité de Búsqueda una vez más por ayudar a la parroquia a identificarla. Recibimos a Patricia con mucha alegría, le deseamos lo mejor en su vocación de líder de la comunidad del Colegio y rezamos por ella ya que es una vocación muy exigente.

También estamos agradecidos por todos los años de servicio y compromiso que deja la Sra. Kucinski. Le deseamos lo mejor y le agradecemos su servicio a la comunidad escolar todos estos más de 30 años.

Mi más sincero agradecimiento a nuestro Comité de Bienvenida por organizar esta reunión para nosotros en Mercy Hall y gracias a todos los voluntarios por sus donaciones y servicio.

Monseñor Brennan y el avivamiento eucarístico: El tercer Seminario Eucarístico en nuestra parroquia salió bien. Doy las gracias a Mons. Brennan fue asignado a nuestra parroquia antes y ahora celebra 50 años de sacerdocio. Torneo de Fútbol: Nuestra comunidad hispana participará en la planificación y formación de un nuevo

"Torneo" de fútbol: El propósito y el objetivo de esta empresa es, ante todo, crear un sentido de comunidad entre nuestros hispanos en toda la diócesis y, en segundo lugar, promover la educación católica entre los padres hispanos. . Esta es la primera vez en nuestra diócesis que se promueve un evento de este tipo para unificar a todos los hispanos. Estamos formando equipos de fútbol en Washington, Flemington y Hackettstown para empezar. Eventualmente, también nos expandiremos a las parroquias de North Plainfield y Perth Amboy.
