CCD (Religious Education)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the following changes to our CCD program for grades 1-7:
The Monday night family program will become an online home-school program. Ignatious Press, the publisher of the Faith and Life series which we presently use, has a professionally made interactive online program. It features text, with the option to be read aloud to the student. The program engages learners with multi-media activities such as videos, interactive games, sacred art explanations, and automated assessment tools. The program is available in both English and Spanish languages. We are hoping to get licenses for the program in August and then you can begin the fun learning any time, anywhere and at your own pace, even before regular school activities begin.
The Tuesday traditional program will remain the same. It will begin in late September or whenever Saints Philip and James School reopens.
We will need to order the correct numbers of books for the traditional program and the correct number of licenses for the online program. Therefore, we are asking you to fill out the form found HERE . Please submit one form for each child in your care who will be attending our CCD program. You will be able to select your choice of program as part of the registration. Please complete this form by Monday, June 15. If we do not hear from you, you will automatically be enrolled in the program you participated in last year.
For students entering grade 8, Confirmation classes will be held on Tuesdays with the traditional CCD program or on certain Sundays following Mass. Confirmation class times and schedule will follow. Please use the above link to register for the 8th grade Confirmation Program.
Catechists teach CCD (religious education) classes to parish children. Aids assist catechists in many ways. We are always looking for good-hearted people who are willing to help out in this important ministry. Background checks and Virtus Training (protecting God’s children) are required in this ministry.
