Dear Family!

It is not a bad idea to wish each other ‘Happy Easter’ all through the season of Easter as Christ’s Resurrection is the foundation of our faith. It was wonderful seeing all of you during the Holy Week services and Easter celebrations. Thank you for making the effort to attend all church services, especially the Triduum, though they were long but very meaningful. A big thanks to all our volunteers in cleaning the church; our decorating teams with flowers and lights; our lectors and Eucharistic ministers, our choir, servers, counters, clergy and staff.

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. One of the requests St. Faustina described in her Diary that Jesus made of her was about this Feast. She wrote, “The Lord said, ‘I want… the first Sunday after Easter … to be the Feast of Mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day, the very depths of my tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of my mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened.”

Divine Mercy is poured to doubting believers, thus we always read about Thomas on this Sunday. Being born and grew up in the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, in the southern part of India, I was introduced to the faith of Saint Thomas at my childhood. The patron of the diocese and the Cathedral is named after Saint Thomas. My hometown is the home of Saint Thomas Mount and the place of his martyrdom. Let us ask the intercessions of Saint Faustina and also Saint John Paul II.

Our Prayers for the RCIA Candidates & a Sincere thanks to our RCIA Team! As these new Candidates are incorporated into our community of worshippers it is all the more necessary and it is our obligation to pray for Preston Cryan, Emmanuel Sostre & Tarina Paul. Please remember all the candidates who have received their sacraments at the Easter Vigil.

Bible Study on The Acts of the Apostles: All are welcome! As you probably know that it takes hours of preparation to put together the Bible Study. I thank all those who have signed up for this study. Every Thursday at 1:30pm in Mercy Hall we gather to study the scripture. It is never too late to join the study. Every time you participate you will appreciate the rich treasures of the Wisdom of the Word of God. This will be in preparation for the Easter Season 2024.

Confessions: Let the good habit of going to confession continue in every season! As you are aware we have confessions on Saturdays both in the morning and in the afternoon, I extend the invitation to all to the Sacrament of Confession during the week also. It is never too late to go to confession. The priests are available during office hours on weekdays. Please call the parish office for more information.

Eucharistic Renewal: The next Seminar will be on April 10th, 6:30pm. The topic we will reflect and learn together is “Eucharist is a Community Prayer” presented by Monsignor John Gordon. As I always encourage all of you - community learning is integral to our faith. Please make an effort to be part of the community as we learn together. We started the Eucharistic Revival Seminars in our parish in May, 2023 and the next seminar would complete one full year of community learning. Our Bishop will be here for Confirmation: On Tuesday, April 23rd, our Bishop will be confirming all our confirmand at 5pm Mass in our Church. Please make every effort to participate in the Mass and greet our Bishop on this special visit.

Ordinary Maintenance Projects: We have formed a volunteer group to paint the front doors of the church in Spring. I thank all the volunteers who signed up for this project. Our chapel renovation will be starting soon as we are working to get the schedule ready to relocate adoration opportunities for parishioners. Now that the floor of Mercy Hall is repaired we have started to renovate the bathrooms on the 3rd floor. I thank all the volunteers who are part of this project. It is an old building and in need of constant maintenance. Skilled people such as painters, electricians, plumbers and carpenters are all welcomed to volunteer in these projects.

Domingo de la Divina Misericordia

¡Querida familia!

No es mala idea desearnos unos a otros "Felices Pascuas" durante todo el tiempo de Pascua, ya que la Resurrección de Cristo es el fundamento de nuestra fe. Fue maravilloso verlos a todos durante los servicios de Semana Santa y las celebraciones de Pascua. Gracias por hacer el esfuerzo de asistir a todos los servicios de la iglesia, especialmente al Triduo, aunque fueron largos pero muy significativos. Un gran agradecimiento a todos nuestros voluntarios en la limpieza de la iglesia; nuestros equipos de decoración con flores y luces; nuestros lectores y ministros eucarísticos, nuestro coro, servidores, mostradores, clero y personal.

Hoy es el Domingo de la Divina Misericordia. Una de las peticiones que Santa Faustina describió en su Diario que Jesús le hizo fue sobre esta Fiesta. Ella escribió: “El Señor dijo: ‘Quiero… que el primer domingo después de Pascua… sea la Fiesta de la Misericordia. Deseo que la Fiesta de la Misericordia sea refugio y amparo para todas las almas, y especialmente para los pobres pecadores. Ese día, las profundidades de mi tierna misericordia están abiertas. Derramo todo un océano de gracias sobre aquellas almas que se acercan a la fuente de mi misericordia. El alma que se confiese y reciba la Sagrada Comunión obtendrá el completo perdón de los pecados y de sus penas. En ese día se abren todas las compuertas divinas por las que fluyen las gracias”.

La Divina Misericordia se derrama sobre los creyentes que dudan, por eso siempre leemos sobre Tomás en este domingo. Nací y crecí en la Arquidiócesis de Madras-Mylapore, en la parte sur de la India, y conocí la fe de Santo Tomás en mi infancia. El patrón de la diócesis y de la Catedral lleva el nombre de Santo Tomás. Mi ciudad natal es la patria de Santo Tomás de Monte y el lugar de su martirio. Pidamos las intercesiones de Santa Faustina y también de San Juan Pablo II.

¡Nuestras oraciones por los candidatos de RICA y un sincero agradecimiento al equipo de RICA! A medida que estos nuevos Candidatos se incorporan a nuestra comunidad de fieles, es aún más necesario y nuestra obligación orar por Preston Cryan, Emmanuel Sostre y Tarina Paul. Estudio Bíblico sobre Los Hechos de los Apóstoles: ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Como probablemente saben, son horas de preparación para preparar el estudio bíblico. Agradezco a todos aquellos que se han inscrito en este estudio. Todos los jueves a la 1:30 pm en Mercy Hall nos reunimos para estudiar las Escrituras. Nunca es demasiado tarde para unirse al estudio. Confesiones: ¡Que la buena costumbre de confesarse continúe en cada estación! Como saben tenemos confesiones los sábados tanto en la mañana como en la tarde, extiendo la invitación a todos al Sacramento de la Confesión también durante la semana. Nunca es demasiado tarde para confesarse. Los sacerdotes están disponibles durante el horario de oficina de lunes a viernes. Por favor llame a la oficina parroquial para obtener más información.

Renovación Eucarística: El próximo Seminario será el 10 de abril a las 6:30pm. El tema que reflexionaremos y aprenderemos juntos es “La Eucaristía es una oración comunitaria” presentado por Monseñor John Gordon. Como siempre los animo a todos ustedes, el aprendizaje comunitario es parte integral de nuestra fe. Haga un esfuerzo por ser parte de la comunidad mientras aprendemos juntos. Comenzamos los Seminarios de Avivamiento Eucarístico en nuestra parroquia en mayo de 2023 y el próximo seminario completaría un año completo de aprendizaje comunitario. Nuestro Obispo estará aquí para la Confirmación: El martes 23 de abril, nuestro Obispo confirmará a todos nuestros confirmados en la Misa de las 5 p.m. en nuestra Iglesia. Haga todo lo posible para participar en la Misa y saludar a nuestro Obispo en esta visita especial.

Proyectos de mantenimiento: Hemos formado un grupo de voluntarios para pintar las puertas de entrada de la iglesia durante la primavera. Agradezco a todos los voluntarios que se inscribieron en este proyecto. La renovación de nuestra capilla comenzará pronto mientras estamos trabajando para preparar el cronograma para reubicar las oportunidades de adoración para los feligreses. Ahora que el piso de Mercy Hall está reparado, hemos comenzado a renovar los baños en el 3er piso. Agradezco a todos los voluntarios que forman parte de este proyecto. Es un edificio antiguo y necesita mantenimiento constante. Personas cualificadas como pintores, electricistas, fontaneros y carpinteros son bienvenidas como voluntarias en estos proyectos.
