Reflection: Every pope has a Papal Motto that highlights the pope’s focus or his pastoral concern over the church. Pope Francis’ motto on his coat of arms, “miserando atque eligendo” is taken from a homily by Saint Bede, which could be translated as “having mercy, Jesus called him.” Pope Benedict XVI’s Papal Motto was “Cooperatores Veritatis” (Cooperators of the Truth taken from 3rd Letter of John, which has only one chapter, 8th verse). Pope John Paul II’s motto is “Totus Tuus” which means ‘Totally Yours’ or ‘I am all yours, and all I have is yours’ is inspired by the teaching of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort.
Pope Paul VI’s apostolic motto is “Cum Ipso in monte” (With Him on the mountain). Pope Paul VI entered into the peace of the Lord at 9:40pm on Sunday, 6th August 1978. Church always remembers to pray for him on this day especially in all reflections on the feast of Transfiguration Pope John Paul always remembered Pope Paul VI and his contribution the Universal Church.
This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The Theme is centered around Jesus revealing Himself to the Apostles as the Messiah-King before His crucifixion and resurrection. Through this celebration we acknowledge the Kingship of Jesus over all creation and the promise of our future with Him in glory. In the words of Pope Paul VI, “ On the top of Tabor, Christ reveals for a few moments the splendor of his divinity, and manifests himself to the chosen witnesses as he really is, the Son of God, "the radiance of the Father's glory and the imprint of his substance" (cf. Heb. 1, 3); but it also shows the transcendent destiny of our human nature, which he assumed to save us, also destined, because redeemed by his irrevocable sacrifice of love, to participate in the fullness of life, in the "destiny of the saints in the light" (Col. 1, 12). That body, which is transfigured before the astonished eyes of the apostles, is the body of Christ our brother, but it is also our body called to glory; that light that floods it is and will also be our share of inheritance and splendor. We are called to share so much glory, because we are "participants in the divine nature" (2 Petr. 1, 4). An incomparable fate awaits us if we have done honor to our Christian vocation; if we have lived in the logical sequence of words and behavior that the commitments of our baptism impose on us.” (Pope Paul VI, Feast of Transfiguration, 1978)
New Principal Welcoming: I request you to join the parish community to welcome and pray for our New Principal Patricia Bell in the 11am Mass and reception at Mercy Hall after Mass. We thank the Hospitality Committee for their readiness and flexibility.
Soccer Playoff and Tournament: To promote and develop a sense of community among our Hispanics throughout the diocese and to promote Catholic Education among Hispanic parents, we are planning a Soccer Tournament. This is the first time in our diocese such an event is promoted to unify all Hispanics. There is a lot of planning needed for this venture. I ask your prayers and support for this Tournament. Please join us in our school ground on the 19th of August. St. Magdalene, Flemington is playing against us. Match starts at 5:00pm.
Parish Survey: I request all of you to take part in the parish survey. It is put together to get your valuable suggestions to make right decision for the parish. It will also help us to begin our Parish Census which will be a huge undertaking. The parish survey is available on parish and school websites and other media. If you need a paper copy, please contact the office or talk to the clergy.
Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea: Please support your parish in this important fundraiser to fund needed repairs in church buildings. The tickets are reasonable, and it would be a great community event for our town. I request you to spread the word and try to invite your family and friends for this Orchestra.
Eucharistic Revival Holy Hour & Seminar: August 4th is First Friday. I request you to join me in praising and thanking God in the Holy Hour at 6pm in the Church. On August 9th, the Director of Priest Personnel, Monsignor John Fell will be here to reflect with us on the topic, ‘The Eucharist in the Scripture’.
Please make use of these opportunities to learn as a community.

Reflexión: Cada papa tiene un lema papal que destaca el enfoque del papa o su preocupación pastoral por la iglesia. El lema del Papa Francisco en su escudo de armas, “miserando atque eligendo” está tomado de una homilía de San Beda, que podría traducirse como “teniendo misericordia, Jesús lo llamó”. El Lema Papal del Papa Benedicto XVI fue “Cooperatores Veritatis” (Cooperadores de la Verdad tomado de la 3ra Carta de Juan, que tiene un solo capítulo, 8vo verso). El lema del Papa Juan Pablo II es “Totus Tuus”, que significa “Totalmente tuyo” o “Soy todo tuyo y todo lo que tengo es tuyo”, está inspirado en las enseñanzas de San Luis María Grignion de Montfort.
El lema apostólico del Papa Pablo VI es “Cum Ipso in monte” (Con Él en la montaña). El Papa Pablo VI entró en la paz del Señor a las 21:40 del domingo 6 de agosto de 1978. La Iglesia siempre recuerda orar por él en este día, especialmente en todas las reflexiones sobre la fiesta de la Transfiguración El Papa Juan Pablo siempre recordó al Papa Pablo VI y su contribución de la Iglesia Universal.
Este domingo celebramos la Fiesta de la Transfiguración del Señor. El Tema se centra en Jesús revelándose a los Apóstoles como el Mesías-Rey antes de Su crucifixión y resurrección. A través de esta celebración reconocemos el Reino de Jesús sobre toda la creación y la promesa de nuestro futuro con Él en gloria. En palabras del Papa Pablo VI, “En la cima del Tabor, Cristo revela por unos instantes el esplendor de su divinidad, y se manifiesta a los testigos elegidos tal como es realmente, el Hijo de Dios, “el resplandor de la gloria y la impronta de su sustancia» (cf. Heb 1, 3); pero también muestra el destino trascendente de nuestra naturaleza humana, que él asumió para salvarnos, también destinados, porque redimidos por su sacrificio irrevocable de amor, a participar en la plenitud de la vida, en el "destino de los santos en la luz". (Col 1, 12). Ese cuerpo, que se transfigura ante los ojos atónitos de los apóstoles, es el cuerpo de Cristo nuestro hermano, pero es también nuestro cuerpo llamado a la gloria; esa luz que la inunda es y será también nuestra parte de herencia y esplendor. Estamos llamados a compartir tanta gloria, porque somos "participantes de la naturaleza divina" (2 Pedro 1, 4). Un destino incomparable nos espera si hemos hecho honor a nuestra vocación cristiana: si hemos vivido en la secuencia lógica de palabras y comportamientos que nos imponen los compromisos de nuestro bautismo”. Torneo de Fútbol: Para promover y desarrollar un sentido de comunidad entre nuestros hispanos en toda la diócesis y promover la Educación Católica entre los padres hispanos, estamos planeando un Torneo de Fútbol. Esta es la primera vez en nuestra diócesis que se promueve un evento de este tipo para unificar a todos los hispanos. Se necesita mucha planificación para esta empresa. Pido sus oraciones y apoyo para este Torneo. Únase a nosotros en el terreno de nuestra escuela el 19 de agosto. St. Magdalene, Flemington está jugando en nuestra contra. El partido comienza a las 5pm.
