Reflection: I thank all of you for all your love and support all through the year; it has been one year since my appointment as your pastor. I am grateful to God for His graciousness in leading me and guiding me so that I can serve you well! There will always be uncertainties in life as you probably felt at times in your lives. The personalities we meet in the readings are all and nothing but personalities who have faced uncertainties all their lives. Elijah’s uncertainty is all about his prophetic role. In the Gospel, the Apostles unwillingly agree to get into the boat as they were enjoying the privilege of Jesus’s friendship - they got special recognition from the people. For Jesus ‘special recognition’ is given to you when you are found worthy at the time of challenge, trial, tribulation.

Our Christian vocation certainly seem to put us through this path of uncertainty. If things are easy for you such as your prayer life, your sacrifices, your practice of religion, your moral life, your care for the poor and needy, your witness to the Gospel, your call as a peacemaker, your thirst for justice and truth, your humility - if all these come easy for you, you are not doing them right! Nothing of a Christian Vocation is easy or certain.

Our vocation, our history and our church are symbols of uncertainty, but at the same time they promise a certainty of a different kind. Elijah’s uncertainty is comforted by God’s gentle breeze. Apostles’ uncertainty is comforted by Jesus’s presence and nearness. Paul’s uncertainty is comforted by ‘It is not I, but Christ lives in me’. What is uncertain is temporary. What is certain in permanent. What is certain? What is permanent? God’s unconditional love and care; God’s mercy and compassion; God’s salvation, grace and blessing are certain and permanent.

A word of thanks: Our parish community thanks the Welcoming committee for hosting the “Welcoming and thanking the principals” event last Sunday. The principals addressed the people briefly. We continue to keep them in our prayers. People who are looking into being part of a community may consider joining this committee. Everyone is a host in our parish; every Christian is called to welcome and show hospitality to everyone. We also thank our Welcoming Committee and the 72 Disciples in hosting the Eucharistic Revival Seminar on 9th August, presented by Msgr. John Fell. I continue to encourage you to join the parish community and use these rare opportunities of learning and growing as a community.

A special word of thanks to the Legion of Mary in hosting the “Eucharistic Miracle Exhibition’ last Sunday. It was very informative and thank you for your presence. Many thanks to you for completing the Parish Survey. I request you to write your name and contact information on it as it is tied into a bigger undertaking. Parish census will be our next focus. Please complete the survey. I request all families take part in it. Your opinion and ideas are important to me to make good decisions for the parish.

Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea: Please support your parish in this important fund-raiser to fund needed repairs in church buildings. The tickets are reasonable, and it would be a great community event for our town. I request you to spread the word and try to invite your family and friends for this Orchestra.

Soccer Playoff and Tournament: To promote and develop a sense of community among our Hispanics throughout the diocese and to promote Catholic Education among Hispanic parents, we are planning a Soccer Tournament. Please join us in our school ground on the 19th of August. St. Magdalene, Flemington is playing against us. Match starts at 5pm.

New Teams and Members: Starting August 1st, we have new trustees for our parish. We thank our previous trustees, Mary Lilly Fynn & Bill Casey, for their tenure and service to our parish. Duane Volk and Zoila Andrade are our new Trustees. We wish them well and pray for them. Both of them have been parishioners here for long years and their love for our parish is much appreciated! There will be a new ministry for Bible Study being planned. Please call the office for more information. Finance Council has two new members: Paul Juliano and Keith Gallagher in their generosity have accepted to be part of this ministry. Ray DePillo continues to be the Chair of our Parish Finance Council. We wish them the best and pray for them.

New Pastoral Council is being formed. Eileen Catalli is our Parish Pastoral Council Chair. Ed Socci and Donna Franceschino in their generosity have accepted to be part of this ministry. We will continue to form this council in the near future. Clergy are meeting with all ministries for improvement and inspiration. I thank the newly formed Fund-Raising Committee. We are constantly praying to the Holy Spirit for guidance in catering to the needs of the Elderly. A few have requested to take them to Church on Sunday. We are looking into forming this as a new ministry - Christopher Ministry. Volunteers are needed to drive the elderly to Church on Sundays.

¡Querida Familia!

Les agradezco a todos por todo su amor y apoyo durante todo el año; Ha pasado un año desde mi nombramiento como su pastor. ¡Estoy agradecido con Dios por Su gracia al guiarme y guiarme para que pueda servirles bien! Siempre habrá incertidumbres en la vida como probablemente sintieron en algún momento de sus vidas. Las personalidades que encontramos en las lecturas son todas y nada más que personalidades que enfrentaron incertidumbres durante toda su vida. La incertidumbre de Elías tiene que ver con su papel profético. En el Evangelio, los Apóstoles aceptan a regañadientes subir a la barca mientras disfrutaban del privilegio de la amistad de Jesús; obtuvieron un reconocimiento especial de la gente. Porque Jesús te da un "reconocimiento especial" cuando te encuentras digno en el momento del desafío, la prueba, la tribulación.

Nuestra vocación cristiana ciertamente parece llevarnos por este camino de incertidumbre. Si te resultan fáciles cosas como tu vida de oración, tus sacrificios, tu práctica de la religión, tu vida moral, tu cuidado de los pobres y necesitados, tu testimonio del Evangelio, tu llamada de pacificador, tu sed de justicia y de verdad , tu humildad - si todo esto te resulta fácil, ¡no lo estás haciendo bien! Nada de una vocación cristiana es fácil o seguro.

Nuestra vocación, nuestra historia y nuestra iglesia son símbolos de incertidumbre, pero al mismo tiempo prometen una certeza de otro tipo. La incertidumbre de Elías es consolada por la suave brisa de Dios. La incertidumbre de los apóstoles es consolada por la presencia y la cercanía de Jesús. La incertidumbre de Pablo es consolada por “No soy yo, sino que Cristo vive en mí”. Lo que es incierto es temporal. Lo cierto en permanente. ¿Qué es seguro? ¿Qué es permanente? el amor y el cuidado incondicionales de Dios; la misericordia y la compasión de Dios; La salvación, la gracia y la bendición de Dios son ciertas y permanentes.

Unas palabras de agradecimiento: Nuestra comunidad parroquial agradece al comité de Bienvenida por organizar el evento "Bienvenida y agradecimiento a los directores" el domingo pasado. Los directores se dirigieron a la gente brevemente. Seguimos teniéndolos en nuestras oraciones. Las personas que están buscando ser parte de una comunidad pueden considerar unirse a este comité. Todos son anfitriones en nuestra parroquia; todo cristiano está llamado a acoger y hospitalizar a todos. También agradecemos a nuestro Comité de Bienvenida y a los 72 Discípulos por organizar el Seminario de Avivamiento Eucarístico el 9 de agosto, presentado por Mons. Juan cayó. Sigo alentándolos a unirse a la comunidad parroquial y aprovechar estas raras oportunidades de aprender y crecer como comunidad. Una palabra especial de agradecimiento a la Legión de María por albergar la “Exposición del Milagro Eucarístico” el pasado domingo. Fue muy informativo y gracias por su presencia. Orquesta de San Pedro del Mar: Apoye a su parroquia en esta importante recaudación de fondos para financiar las reparaciones necesarias en los edificios de la iglesia. Torneo de Fútbol: Para promover y desarrollar un sentido de comunidad entre nuestros hispanos en toda la diócesis y promover la Educación Católica entre los padres hispanos, estamos planeando un Torneo de Fútbol. Únase a nosotros en el terreno de nuestra escuela el 19 de agosto. St. Magdalene, Flemington está jugando en nuestra contra. El partido comienza a las 5pm.

Agradecemos a nuestros fideicomisarios anteriores, Mary Lilly Flynn y Bill Casey, por su mandato y servicio a nuestra parroquia. Duane Volk y Zoila Andrade son nuestros nuevos fideicomisarios. Les deseamos lo mejor y oramos por ellos. ¡Ambos han sido feligreses aquí durante muchos años y apreciamos mucho su amor por nuestra parroquia!

Eileen Catalli es nuestra Presidenta del Consejo Pastoral Parroquial. Ed Socci y Donna Franceschino en su generosidad han aceptado ser parte de este ministerio. Seguiremos formando este consejo en un futuro próximo. El clero se está reuniendo con todos los ministerios para mejorar e inspirarse. Doy las gracias al recién formado Comité de Recaudación de Fondos. Oramos constantemente al Espíritu Santo para que nos guíe en la atención de las necesidades de los ancianos. Algunos han solicitado llevarlos a la Iglesia el domingo. Estamos buscando formar esto como un nuevo ministerio: el Ministerio Christopher. Se necesitan voluntarios para llevar a los ancianos a la iglesia los domingos.
